I am completely crazy about the apartment and also the idea of us finally having a place together! The walls of the apartment are sort of pinkish in color althought we have decided they are "eggshell" to save us the grief of believing we have pink walls! lol
Yesterday we went grocery shopping at the Wal-Mart a ways from our apartment and I ended up getting more and more sick as the shopping trip moved on. It didn't help that we had only planned on buying toilet paper and dishwasher soap in cash and the rest in foodstamps (yes, we planned this VERY carefully because we don't have enough money for ANYTHING extra). Well, the chshier ended up charging us cash for a cake we picked up so our total came to about $10.20 OVER the foodstamps ammount when I KNEW it shouldn't be that much (toilet paper was like $2.40 and dish soap was $1.00) Anyway, we had to go to customer service and do an exchange and it was a big to do... Plus Jessica's mom kept calling in the middle of our shopping and exchanging and everything and yeah.. Very stressful!
We finally made it out of the store and had even crossed the street to go to the train when I realized it was time to run back to Wal-Mart for an emergency trip to the bathroom. I was so sick and weak after that (remember, I was already feeling like shit--tired and all of that) that I decided to call my mom and see if she'd come pick us up. After the second try, I finally got her and (thank the gods!) the came. I didn't feel like I could make it all the way back home on the bus and train with all those heavy groceries.
I ended up with a really bad headache and upset stomach for the rest of the night and we couldn't find the Ibruprophen amoung the boxes and shambles that are left in the old apartment so I just had to deal. I still feel really weak today but we had so many things to do! My mom thinks it is the anxiety and stress of the move that is causing me to be sick. I think she's right. It wouldn't be the first time I got sick from something like that. My body does a lot of weird things when I am under stress.
Today we headed back down to Case Management to sign up for H.E.A.T. only to discover that not only did my pay rep not have us scheduled for an appointment, but we didn't have the things we needed for the appointment in the first place *sigh* Sucky. So we will have to go back AGAIN tomorrow. That's 3 days in a row this week! Yeesh!
We got quite a bit accomplished today. We signed up for electric, returned my cable modem *sniff* to Comcast, went and picked up a Food Stamps application for Jess and now we're at the library getting some things done on the computer. Tonight we are going out to dinner with my mom and to a literary festival. I won 3rd place with two of my poems and also an honorable mention so I might get to read my poetry at the festival. I'm really excited!! Wooot! I'll let you know what prize I get, if anything, and if I get to read.
Anyway, I only have less than 40 minutes left on this computer so I need to check on things at Rainbo Bar and check my email and stuff... Fun stuff. I'll post more updates on life as soon as I can!
